James Bryant Aldridge, age 79, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Monday July 2, 2018. Funeral will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM for James Bryant Aldridge, age 79, of Gadsden, who passed away on Monday July 2, 2018. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery with full military honors. Rev. Tommy Ferguson will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.
Bryant was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School, class of 1957. He was a Veteran, having served with the US Army and Army National Guard. He was a renowned marksman and instructor and a lifetime member of the NRA. He had been a proud member of the Etowah County Rescue Squad and a longstanding member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church. He was known as "Crazy Legs" Aldridge on the dance floor and was proud to be the best fisherman in his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Coe and Pauline Aldridge and his wife of 33 years Cheryl Worsham Aldridge.
He is survived by his wife Doris Vinyard Aldridge, daughters Karen Aldridge (Rodolfo) de la Riva and Kath Aldridge (Lee) Johnson; stepdaughter Yvonne Garrett; Step daughter in law Carol Hollis; grandchildren Tyler (Mattie) Willis, Chelsea and Lexie de la Riva, Kaylee and Daniel Johnson, Emilie (Jeremy) Holcomb; step grandchildren Mitch (Karen) Hollis, Kane (Felicia) Hollis, Jill Hollis, and Brianne (Jesse) Townsel; Step Great Grandchildren Anslie and Baylie Holcomb, Kylie Hollis, Lola Hollis, and Trevor Townsell.
Pallbearers will be Joe Morgan, Leland Minyard, Rayford Helms, Alan Bryan, Kevin Mattingly, and Allen Frazier.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, 608 Kaying Road North, Gadsden, AL 35903.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Vijayaprasad Tummala, Dr. Muhammad Kaleen, Dr. Ashvini Sengar , the doctors, nurses, and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center; Pastor Mike Cleckler, Yhe Cathedral of Praise, Pat and Tommy Colvin, and Bently Hudgins.
A visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
