

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. James Earl Richardson, 90, of Gadsden, who went to be with the Lord Monday, October 21, 2013. Rev. Lauil Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will be directing.
Mr. Richardson was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He served in World War II in the US Navy. He was a home builder with Merit Corporation. He was also a huge baseball fan. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Richardson; parents, Walter and Lela Richardson; and brother, Carl Richardson.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy (Ginger) Richardson, and Johnny (Heather) Richardson; grandchildren: Jessica (Chris) Mason, Robin (John) Derrick, and Brian Richardson; great-grandchildren: Lily and Sterling Derrick, and Wells Mason; and sisters-in-law, Inez Newbern, and Edwadean Gibbs.
Pallbearers will be Brian Richardson, Chris Mason, John Derrick, Rocky Gibbs, Thomas Gibbs, and Charles Sapp.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Rev. Lauil Thompson, and April Gross at Peace in the Valley of Attalla.
The family will accept friends from 11:30-12:30 at the funeral home prior to the service.
