
Jan was a lifelong resident of Etowah County, a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School, and Jacksonville University. She was a retired rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Jewell Lambert; and great nephew, Peyton Lambert.
Survivors include her husband, Roger D. James; brother, Sammy (Lisa) Lambert; sister, Rhonda (Gary) Jenkins; father and mother-in-law, Andrew and Jennie James; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky (Jackie) James, Aneita (Jeff) Cannon; nephews, Cary (Victoria) Jenkins, Kevin (Angie) Jenkins, Allen, Alex, and Sam Lambert, Jason Cannon, Bradley (Brittany) Cannon; niece, Dana James; great nieces and nephews, Emilee, Jace, Paisley, and Olivia Jenkins, Aubrey Kate Lambert, Jaylin, Presley, and Barrett Cannon; aunts, Marie Lambert, Lucy Butler, Margaret Reaves; and a host of cousins and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Alacare Hospice nurse, Denice, and the other staff, Kimberly, Elisabeth, Lisa, Christy, Penny, Freddrick, and Dr. Reiland for their care and kindness.
The burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
