Jewell Dean McEachern

Born on September 14th, 1936, in Knoxville, Tennessee, she grew up in Fountain City, displaying early signs of her lifelong work ethic and powerful persistence. Eager to join the workforce, she even lied about her age to secure employment before reaching the legal working age.

She moved to Alabama upon marrying the love of her life, Joe Daniel McEachern, and together they successfully operated a school day photography business for 40 years. Jewell retired joyfully to embrace time with her six children, grandchildren, and many dear friends.

She peacefully passed away on 12/11/2023, surrounded by loving family and caregivers.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kirkpatrick-Hughes; father, Earnest Hughes; and her two sisters, Dorothy and Oleatha, along with brother C.W.

A visitation for Jewell will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow at Williams Southside Cemetery.
