Kathleen Jewell Bush Williams

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Kathleen Jewell Bush Williams, 93, of Gadsden who died Friday, October 28, 2016. Mr. Greg Ford and Chaplain Bob Hundley will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge.

Mrs. Williams was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, daughter of the late Paul Pearl and Jewell McMahan Bush. She has been a resident of Gadsden since 1940. On March 13, 1942 she was married to Grover C. Williams, Jr in Clearwater, Florida. Captain Williams preceded his wife in death on February 13, 1967,

Mrs. Williams was an active member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church, where she had been a teacher in the Pre-School Sunday School Department for many years. She was retired from Gadsden State Community College with 23 years of service in the college library. Mrs. Williams was a wildlife and nature enthusiast and an avid bird watcher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C. Williams, Jr., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul P. Bush, her sister, Betty Bush Bridges and husband, Edmond Bridges, her brother and sister-in-law, Paul Preston Bush and Vernie Bush and brother-in-law, James Buttram.

She is survived by her loving, attentive and caring son, Jeffry C. Williams, Portland, Oregon; sister, Melba Bush Buttram, Gadsden; very special nieces, Jena Buttram Sanders and Kristie Bridges Erwin, who have been like daughters, niece, Paula Bush Vernon and a number of other dear nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be; Stan Dailey, Johnny Williams, Kevin Buttram, Allen Sanders, Robin Bridges and Mike Erwin.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Etowah County Humane Society, 4200 Brooke Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35904.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Mrs. William’s caregivers, Marie Cook, Trix, Sue, Penny, Myra, Sybil, Lisa, Sherry, Cindy, Pam and the Staff of Amedisys Hospice, for all your wonderful love and care.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
