Kathy Reavis Smithson, age 75, passed away on December 31, 2024. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Service is managing the final arrangements, and a private memorial service will be held by her family.
Born on July 13, 1949, in Gadsden, Alabama, Kathy was a lifelong resident of the state and moved to Rainbow City upon retirement. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, known for her generous heart and enthusiasm for both giving and receiving gifts. Kathy loved a good adventure, whether it was hunting, fishing, or camping with family and friends. Her early passions included NASCAR racing, coaching soccer, and serving as a Cub Scout den mom.
She was an avid Alabama football fan (and on occasion watched Auburn, in support of family members with those leanings). She had a tradition of attending the latest movie premier with family every Christmas and she cherished supporting her grandchildren at their games and performances, followed by thrift shopping and bowling to celebrate. Her legacy of love, humor, and adventure will be treasured by all who knew her.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents Clifford Seaborn Reavis and Eva Mae Norton; her Husband Bobby Louis Smithson; and her brother Clifford “Kip” Reavis Jr. She is survived by her sister Carol Eubanks (Randall); three children, Bryan Wells, Warren Wells (Tamie), and Clint Wells (Misti); her grandchildren, Collin Wells, Allison Helfort (Clayton), Dillon Wells, Baxter Wells, Reilly Wells, Josh Wells (Janine), Jason Wells, Rachel Shaw (Pate); niece and nephew Melinda Sellers (Michael), and John Eubanks; and grandnieces Audrey and Cassidy Sellers.
The family gives special thanks to the physicians, nurses, and support staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alabama Kidney Foundation: www.alkidney.org; Phone: 205-900-7250; Email: [email protected]
