Maggie Mae Palmer Mayben

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Maggie Mae Palmer Mayben, age 83 of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, March 9, 2015. Rev. Bruce Word, Rev. Larry Garrard and Mike Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mrs. Mayben “Nanny” was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, baking, and taking care of others in need.

Mrs. Mayben formerly attended James Memorial Baptist Church and lived as a wonderful Christian woman and was an example to others. She attended North Gadsden Senior groups as well as James Memorial Quilting Group with friends. She also attended Spiritual Bible Studies and was a current member of Cherry Street Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mayben was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert “Bob” Mayben; daughter, Kim Anderson; parents Jim and Alma Palmer; brothers, Hershel (Dot) Palmer; Arthur “Bill” Palmer, Bobby Palmer, Cranfill Palmer, Grady Palmer, and Dood Palmer; and sisters, Margaret (Walden) Scott, Opal (Talmadge) Eaton, and Shirley Davis.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Sherry (Kenneth) Muskett, Becky (Mark) Tow, and Lynn (Ralph) Livingston; son-in-law, Ernie Anderson; grandchildren, Lee (Kris) Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Stephanie (Joey) Pryor, Maeghan (Chris) Disponett, Patrick (Anna) Tow, Elizabeth Muskett, and Natalie (Myles) Young; special great-grandchildren, Tyler and Zoe Anderson, Sydney and Ashton Pryor, Jared and Hunter Disponett, and Bailey Young; sisters-in-law, D.J. Palmer, Ava Palmer, and Sharon Palmer; brother-in-law, Coy Davis; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Ethel Bryan, Don and Charlene Atkins, Margaret Estes, Sherry Arrington, Donna Smith, Joan Tilley, and many more that she was blessed with in her lifetime.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lee and Jeff Anderson, Joey Pryor, Chris Disponett, and Myles Young; and nephews, Christopher Word, Gary and Rod Palmer, and Steve Scott.

Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Muskett, Ernie Anderson, Ralph Livingston, Patrick Tow, Tommy Ward, Jack Kelley, Jimmy Lumpkin, the staff of Cherry Creek Village along with Dr. Wilborn and staff.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
