

Michael Wallace Kimberly, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born in Anniston, AL. on Dec. 7, 1941. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, AL. where he graduated in December 1964.
He married Brenda Pruitt of Gadsden, AL. in 1965, and they left for Jacksonville, FL. where Michael served in the Navy for two years. He then began a career with the Florida Department of Public Health as an Assistant Director and Director of Public Health Laboratories throughout Florida in Jacksonville, Miami, Boca Raton and Delray Beach. In 1974, he graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a Masters and Doctorate Degree in infectious diseases and laboratory practices. He and Brenda moved to Nashville, TN. In 1978, where Michael was the Director of Laboratories for the Tennessee Department of Health. He also worked with CDC and WHO in several countries dealing with HIV and TB. Dr. Kimberly joined the TN Army National Guard in 1978 as Colonel Commander of Nashville, TN MASH Hospital and retired in 2006.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Edna Kimberly. Survived by his wife, Brenda Pruitt Kimberly; son, Anthony Kimberly; grandchildren, Aidan and Madeline Kimberly.
It was Michael’s wished to be cremated and a memorial service to be announced at a later date. Composed by Mr. Kimberly family with care entrusted to Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
