

Saturday, May 9th at 2p Visitation from 1-2 prior to Celebration of Life at Collier-Butler with David Powell of Sand Rock church of Christ. There will be no burial.
Michael was a 1971 graduate of Gadsden High School. He then attended Gadsden State Community College before transferring to Auburn University. He was a 1978 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduation, Michael practiced in Charlotte, NC until 2015. He worked at Clear Creek Animal Hospital, part owner of Archdale Animal Hospital, and Greenock Farm Veterinary Hospital. In 2015, he began practicing at Cherokee Pet Clinic until he was forced to retire for health reasons. He had recently joined Nichols Animal Hospital in Centre, AL on a part time basis.
Michael was a diligent student of the Bible. He enjoyed sharing his faith with others. He was a member of Sand Rock church of Christ in Sand Rock, AL. In Charlotte, he worshipped with the Providence Rd church of Christ where he served as a deacon, and the Queen City church of Christ.
He was a very artistic man. He enjoyed painting. He was a master at crewel embroidery and left behind beautiful pieces we cherish greatly.
Michael was a scuba diver. He enjoyed traveling, especially when diving was involved. He and Cindy went on a dream diving trip Bonaire. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Pauline Quarles McGuire (Gadsden) and father, Retired Master Sargent US Army Vester Mickey McGuire (Tuscaloosa), as well as his beloved Quarles aunts Maude (JF Denney), Louise, and Judy Preston and his Aunt Robbie, his daddy’s sister.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cindy (Golden) of Centre; his son, David Michael (Erin), of Piedmont, Diana Christy (Nathaniel) Couch of Easley, SC, and Kathryn Elizabeth (Andrew, Sr Airman, USAF) Thomas of Abilene, TX; his two grandchildren, the light of his life, Lillian Faith and Aiden David McGuire of Piedmont, AL, his brother, Patrick (Judy) McGuire of Albertville, AL., sisters-in-law, Vicky (Michael)Lamb, and Christy (Ben) Morton; brother- in-law, James (Jana) Golden, as well as many precious nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers: members of the Sand Rock church of Christ, Roger & Jeannie Nichols and the Nichols Animal Hospital staff and his lifelong friend, Dale Entrekin, Montgomery, AL
Flowers will be accepted or memorials to Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities.
