

Mitchell Carter, age 82, of Glencoe, Alabama passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Funeral services will be at Noon on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Collier Butler Chapel. Rev. Bobby Joe Willingham will officiate. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Ashville, AL. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.
Mitchell had worked for Thompson Construction for 23 years, and had worked under James Vickery as Secretary of Treasury for Union Local # 1333 for 40 years. He found joy in buck dancing, playing with his fur baby Ala, Alabama football, bluegrass music, motorcycles, boats, dune buggies, and traveling to watch his granddaughter play softball. His absolutely most treasured thing was his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mamie Carter; brothers Milton and George Carter; Diana Carter; and grandsons Clay Carter and Chris Cook.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanette Carter; daughter Michele (Ronnie) Bynon; son Joe (Carrie) Carter; grandchildren Robin Watson and Kameron (Patrick) Busscher; great grandchild Trent Watson; brothers Robert (aka Junior) and Jackie Carter; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Mangham, Mikey Mangham, Ronnie Bynon, Tim Watson, Chris Sims,Patrick Busscher, and Trent Watson.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Castillo and the staff of Gadsden Cancer Center; Dr. Wade and the staff of Gadsden Urology; and Sr, Sanders and the staff of East Gadsden Clinic.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 am until the hour of service.
