

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Mrs. Oma Jewell McDaniel, age 99, of Rainbow City, who passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011. Rev. Steve Eubanks and Dr. Michael Yopp will officiate with burial at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. McDaniel was born in Blount Co., AL on October 3, 1911 and was raised in Etowah Co., AL. She resided in Rainbow City, AL for 25 years where she was the oldest living member of White Springs Baptist Church. For the past ten years she has resided at Merril Gardens in Albertville, AL. Throughout her life she was involved in many organizations, charities and clubs. She was also very active in the work of her church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Walter Alfred McDaniel; her parents; and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty M. Vance, Peggy M. (Boyd) Smart and Nancy M. Buckelew; granddaughters, Kathy (Jerry) Thorton, Karen Machen, Sandra (Danny) Starnes, and Lynn Buckelew; grandson, Chris (Shelia) Buckelew; five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Boyd Smart, Danny Starnes, Micah Starnes, Chris Buckelew, Jerry Foster, John Paul Buckelew and Bobby Cosby.
Honorary pallbearers will be Russell McDaniel, Troy Mack Willet, Dr. Russell Robinson and A.W. Townsend.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of White Springs Baptist Church, Rainbow City, AL or First Baptist Church, Albertville, AL.
