

Graveside funeral service for Pearl Ryder Brock, 89, Rainbow City, who passed away on December 3 will be 2 PM Tuesday December 6, 2011 at Crestwood Cemetery. Rev. Larry Ward will officiate with Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.
Pearl was the sixth of nine children born in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Robert and Mittie Ryder. In 1927, the family moved from Hot Springs to Centerville, AL, taking three months for the journey in a covered wagon. She was a beautician from age 16 to 71, during which time she married Ellis M. Brock, Sr. She owned and operated several salons, most namely Pearl’s Beauty Shop on the corner of 6th and Randall St. where she retired after 55 years. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She was an avid bowler, loved animals, enjoyed painting, and had a green thumb with flowers.
Surviving Mrs. Brock is her son, Ellis M. Brock, Jr. and wife Sharon; sisters, Lillie Mae Hurst of Birmingham and Thelmar Tuberville of Florence.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Thompson, Seth Hill, Phillip Hill, Ricky Sisco, Red Messer and Don Pierce.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 at the funeral home.
