Ray was born on February 17, 1954 in Gadsden, Alabama, where he spent all his life. He attended Emma Sansom Highschool and later on studied Electricity and Refrigeration at Gadsden State. Ray was a hard worker. He was very smart and intelligent and was always eager to start new projects that he accomplished with excellence and gratitude.
Ray was known for his excellent sense of humor and for making everyone laugh with his pranks. He loved to practice magic tricks with his friends and family, especially with his grandkids, niece and nephews.
Ray loved nature and animals and he always loved to have pets around. He started his business White Doves Releases in 2009, where he trained the birds to fly away and go back to his house. This unique idea allowed him to participate in Gadsden’s events and special occasions like weddings and funerals, creating amazing and magic moments for the guests.
Ray was also a talented carpenter. Over the last years, he spent most of his time carving wood and creating beautiful ornaments. He enjoyed fishing, and his latest hobby was to go for rides on his Harley-Davidson. He loved extreme sports and adrenaline and prided himself for doing skydiving, and jumping from the Southside Bridge to the river.
Most importantly, Ray was a dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Sandra Heath; a great father to his daughter and sons, Angie White, Michael White and Michael Heath; a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Samuel, Sawyer, Cade and Julianne; and a wonderful, welcoming, and caring family member to his in-laws. His kindness was limitless.
Ray joins his deceased siblings Jan Heath, his twin Jimmy Heath, his sister Peggy Heath, and his mother Maureen Watson.
Ray always welcomed everyone in his house with opened arms and loved to make sure everyone was okay and comfortable. He loved to cook for his friends and family and his favorite thing was to bring everyone together for barbeques while setting the tone with his favorite country music. His favorite gatherings and holidays were Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Ray enjoyed his life to the maximum. All his experiences allowed him to live a fulsome, joyous and peaceful life. He leaves a huge void and emptiness for those who were close to him. We will miss him everyday, and will forever cherish the special memories he leaves with us.
