

Richard Calvin Funderburg, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 11, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 02:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Brother Kenneth Lasseter and Brother Blake Edmondson will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. The family will accept family and friends from noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Mr. Richard Funderburg was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 stationed in South Korea as a member of the Military Police.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Geneva Funderburg; niece, Donna Phillips; brother-in-law, Don Holland and best friends, Gary Blackwell, Michael Glenn, and Harold Green.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Morgan Funderburg; children, David Funderburg and Leanne (Alan) Harden; grandchildren, Alex (Justin) Beam and Nick Harden; five great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Mary) Funderburg; sister, Myron Holland; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Blackwell, Todd Glenn, Heath Glenn, John Green, Jonathan Green, Tony Morgan, Steve Pruitt, and Greg Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Blackwell, Mike Fox, and Scott Oliver.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the South-Seventh Floor nurses and staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and ProHealth Hospice nurses and staff.
