

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. today at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Roger Lee Rosson, 70, of Montgomery, formerly of Gadsden, who died Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rosson was a native of Gadsden and Etowah County. He has been a resident of Montgomery since the 1960’s. He still maintained close ties to his family and friends in Gadsden and Etowah County.
Mr. Rosson was a member of the Gadsden High Class of 1958. He graduated from the Alabama Technical College. He worked for thirty-six years as a civil engineer for Alabama Department of Transportation in the Bridge Bureau before his retirement in 1996.
Mr. Rosson was a beloved father, brother, cousin, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Claude Rosson and his sister, Dollie Lynn Rosson. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Leigh Rosson; brother, Ray C. Rosson; sister, Lana C. Rosson; uncle, L.H. Horton, Dallas, Texas; aunts and uncles, Anthony Wayne and Ernestine Horton, Charlie and Loudeen Whatley; many special cousins, and his beloved pets, Morris and Scooter.
Mr. Rosson had a wide range of interest. He was very mechanically talented. He was a NASCAR fan and loved to restore antique cars. He participated in an antique car club and exhibited his cars in many events. He also was a collector of items on a wide range of subjects.
The family would like to thank Mr. Rosson’s friends of many years- Winston and Virginia Farrior, Linda Thrift, Edwin and Kay Gann, Pete and Gail Christian, Members of Alabama Bridge Bureau, Willie Davis, and Richard and Johelen Short for their valued friendship during his lifetime.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will be excepting friends today from 12p.m. until 2p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home
