

.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rainbow Church of Christ for Mrs. Sarah L. Foote, 97, Rainbow City, who passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Minister Blake Jones will officiate with burial at Williams Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing.
Mrs. Foote was born in Morgan County in 1918 to Alice Mae Newman Osborn and Jordan Freeman Osborn. Mrs. Foote graduated from Danville High School in 1936 and attended Florence State Teachers College. She then worked for the L&N Railroad until marrying her husband, Gurnie Foote, in 1945. Soon the couple moved to Gadsden in 1946, where Sarah was an active partner in their furniture business. She lived most of her life on their farm in Whorton’s Bend and was a dedicated homemaker as well as a member of Whorton’s Bend Homemakers’ Club.
Sarah was a Charter Member of Rainbow Church of Christ, and helped establish the Etowah County Prison Ministry, which continues today.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Gurnie H. Foote, her parents Alice and Jordan Osborn, brothers Harold, Jordan, Melvin (Buddy), Nealy, and Joe Osborn.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Alice Adams, Southside, Margaret (Bill) Campbell, Hartselle, Jane (Barry) Robinson, Gadsden, and Dr. Ruth (John) Brock, Ashville; nine grandchildren, Amy Adams, Ashley Starr, Birmingham, Abbey Mackey, Gadsden, Dr. Joshua (Brittany)Campbell, Gainesville, FL, Marah (Nick) Martin, Destin, FL., Will (Kai) Campbell, Jacksonville, FL., Alice Brock, Gadsden, Anna Brock (Ryan) DiLorenzo, Tuscaloosa, and John Henry Brock, Ashville. She also leaves behind three beloved great-grandsons, Campbell and Parker Martin, Destin, FL and William J. Campbell, Jr., Jacksonville, FL.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Foote's wonderful caregivers at Regency Pointe and Camellia Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to your favorite charity or Rainbow Church of Christ benevolence fund.
Visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m.
