

Mr. Stanley G. Carter, age 80, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel. Rev. Adam Fielder will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Carter graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1964.He worked at the Steel Plant in Gadsden for over 36 years prior to their closing in 2000 while serving 6 years in the Army National Guard Reserves. He attended Gadsden State Community College after the steel plant shut down studying carpentry. After college, he went to work for Sloan Contracting and then Coosa Industrial Supply until he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved white water kayaking, canoeing, hunting, camping, backpacking, skiing and rappelling. He loved running and long-distance cycling. His favorite retirement past-time was playing golf with his girlfriend and his golfing buddies. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. His grandchildren meant everything to him, he never missed any of their events. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Ermon and Eron Carter; his sisters Judy Carter and Nancy (Carter) Farlow.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend of over 20 years, Glynda Faucett; daughter Jody (Heath) Holland; granddaughter Kayla (Kyle) McGuire; grandsons, Matthew (Paige Williams) Holland, and Andrew Holland; great grandchildren, Destiny Nelson, Aliyah (Marshal Williams) McGuire, Braxton McGuire, Aubrey Holland, Bryce Young and Jesslyn McGuire; one great-great granddaughter, Mary Kate McDaniel. Nephews, Tony (Sara) Clevenger and Tim (Penny) Clevenger; niece Tracy (Mike) Johnson; a host of great nieces and great nephews; chosen children, Donna (Bob) Laveson and Kim Faucett, chosen grandchildren, Abigail, Grant, Trent and Blake Laveson.
Pallbearers will be Joel Mabrey, Kyle McGuire, Matthew Holland, Andrew Holland, Bryce Young and Tony Clevenger.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Boaz Country Club Golf Buddies.
