
Born August 31, 1920 in Gadsden, to the late Charles Howard DuBose and Bessie Lou Berry, he married Jeanne Hatley in 1942. Durward graduated from Gadsden High School, was a veteran of World War II, and an active member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and usher. He retired from the family business established by his father, DuBose Awning and Venetian Blind Shop.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jeanne in 2011, son Charles Terry DuBose, 1991, brother Charles Walton DuBose, 1983, and sister Audrey Elisabeth DuBose, 1988.
Mr. DuBose is survived by his son Thomas D. DuBose, Jr., M.D. (wife Linda Baswell DuBose); grandchildren, Leslie Kathryn DuBose Smith, Nathan Scott DuBose (wife Leigh Cato DuBose), and Emily Lauren DuBose; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Leigh Smith, Jackson DuBose Smith, Gordon Scott DuBose, and John Thomas DuBose; and daughter-in-law, Betty Hollingsworth DuBose.
A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 2:00 p.m., at Collier Butler Funeral Home, Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama,. Dr. Troy Morrison, and Rev. Tom Camp officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Forrest Cemetery.
The family thanks the dedicated staffs at Bermuda Village Retirement Center and Wake Forest Baptist Health, but especially the nurses and physicians of the Cancer and Geriatric Centers, WFBH.
