Thomas Eugene Killian

Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Thomas Eugene Killian, age 85, of Gadsden who passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015. Rev. John Killian will officiate. Burial will be at McNutt Memorial Methodist Church Cemetery, Ft. Payne. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.

Mr. Killian earned a Bachelor’s Of Science Degree in Technical Education. He was a veteran of the U S Army serving during the Korean War. Mr. Killian became an instructor at Gadsden State Community College in 1958 in Electronic Technology and retired as the Chairman of the Engineering Technology department in 1991. After retirement he was very involved and enjoyed genealogy research about the Killian Family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, gardening and music. Mr. Killian was an accomplished pianist who played by ear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas “Tom” W. and Mertie Killian.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Olivia Johnson Killian, daughter, Barbara Killian Byers and husband Keith, sons, Thomas Blake Killian and Wesley Alan Killian, grandchildren, Jonathan Killian Byers and wife Jennifer, Zachary Thomas Byers, Jessica Renee Killian, Kelly Jean Killian, great grandchildren, Cheyanne Grace Killian, Brayden Hunter Pope and Theodore Churchill Byers.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Byers, Zachary Byers, Darrell Johnson, Myron Hall, Michael Nelson and Hilbert Hall.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Erwin Peyton, M.D. and Alejandro Garcia Hernandez, M.D.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Smeltzer Center, P O Box 8195, Gadsden, AL 35902 in Mr. Killian’s memory.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
