
She was the only child of Jack Dee and Dorothy Eloise Burgess Collins. In addition to their residence in Gadsden, Alabama, her parents had a vacation home in Guntersville, and Ginger grew up enjoying swimming, water skiing and fishing with friends and family. Swimming was always her favorite activity. Ginger attended public schools and graduated from Gadsden High School, Class of 1965.
She attended Auburn University, then pursued an insurance career in Nashville and Atlanta before returning to Gadsden as the caregiver for her mother who was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Ginger enjoyed traveling-favorite destinations included Maine and the Gulf Coast. In retirement she took classes at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and pursued interest in British movies and novels, gardening and decorating.
