Carol was a proud graduate of South High School (1952) and Capital University (1956). She dedicated over 30 years to Columbus Public Schools as a teacher, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. Following retirement, she remained active in her community by joining the Civic Sam’s of Gahanna.
Carol had a deep love for travel, with Hawaii being a favorite destination. She embarked on many cruises with her sister-in-law, Ida. At home, she found joy in gardening, which she considered both her passion and therapy. She also loved feeding the birds and was known for her sharp wit and many laughs. Her cottage at Buckeye Lake was her heaven, and she cherished the time spent there. Above all, she was truly the heart of her family and will be intensely missed.
A devoted member of Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Caroline’s beautiful singing voice was a gift to all who heard it.
Carol is survived by her children, Elizabeth Logan, Joseph Martin III, and Rebecca Dukeman; grandchildren Brett Pfeifer, Kelsey Lefevere, Joseph Martin IV, Alexander, Maxwell, and Rex Dukeman; and great-grandchildren Ethan and Evvie Pfeifer, Violet, Micah, and Delilah Lefevere.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ruth Saurbrey, and her granddaughter, Michelle Pfeifer.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 12, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Schoedinger Northeast (1051 E Johnstown Rd.) A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 13, at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (322 Stewart Ave.) Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
