She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 76 years, Robert E. “Bob” Driscoll and her youngest daughter, Anne Lenore Driscoll Laivins. She was the mother/mother-in-law of Anne and Kenneth Laivins, Robert P. and Sylvia Driscoll, Judith and Philip Fahy, Timothy A. and Jeannine Driscoll, Stephen E. and Carol Driscoll and Karen and Thomas Shafer. There are 17 who called her, “Grandma,” 26 who called her “Great-Grandma,” 4 who called her “Great-great Grandma,” numerous nieces and nephews who called her “Aunt Charlotte,” and many others who called her their friend.
Born October 8, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the only child of Ann and Charles Kellum. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio, when she was 2 years old. She attended St. Mary’s School and then St. Mary Magdalene High School where she played basketball, was an honor student and graduated in 1947.
She met her future husband in the fall of 1947 when he was home on leave from the US Navy. They were married on February 19,1949, at St. Mary’s Church, and honeymooned in Chicago. Mom desired a large family and God blessed her with a large family that had the rare distinction of spanning 4 decades:1949, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970!
Above all, Mom was a lifelong, faithful and active follower of Jesus Christ. Her love of Christ was first reflected in her selfless devotion and love for her large and extended family, and secondly through her Christ-like outreach to others. She was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and many others she met in her long life. Mom actively served God in multiple ways within her local congregation and community. She was a volunteer with Columbus’ Children’s Hospital, Mt. Carmel Hospice, and ran a Christian bookstore and lending library.
In 2004 at the age of 74, Charlotte with her husband, Bob, traveled to Guayaquil, Ecuador, on a evangelistic medical mission trip with their son, Dr. Tim Driscoll. Besides Ecuador, they traveled to Germany, Switzerland, England and twice to Ireland and Israel.
Currently, Mom and Dad reside at their final destination with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where they continue to Praise the Lord.
