Born on April 5, 1969, in Delaware, Ohio, Dominic was the son of the late Anthony A. and Mary E. (Cooke) Dinovo. He attended Saint Mary Elementary and Hayes High School in Delaware, before earning degrees from Ohio Dominican College and Loyola University.
Dominic was part of a beautifully large and loving family, including his siblings Ceena Baker of Delaware, OH; Mary Francis Dinovo (Steve Blagg) of Tipp City, OH; Peggy (Richard) DeClue of Duncan, SC; the late Salvatore Dinovo (Lorie Dunlap) of Xenia, OH; Charles (Colleen) Dinovo of Westborough, MA; Father Anthony Dinovo, Jr. of Newark, OH; Joe (Allison) Dinovo of Lancaster, OH; Philip (Kris) Dinovo of Sandusky, OH; in-laws the late Stan (Ann) Bednarczyk of Columbus and brother-in-law Stanley Bednarczyk, also of Columbus.
For 28 years, Dominic shared a life of love and friendship with his wife, Carolyn A. (Bednarczyk) Dinovo. He was a proud and devoted father to Adam Nicholas and Natalie Ann, his joy and greatest blessing.
A passionate and gifted educator, Dominic spent 29 years at Bishop Hartley High School, where he lived out his vocation with integrity and dedication. Generations of students knew him not only as a teacher but as a trusted mentor and friend. Mr. D's classroom was a place of learning, humor, and genuine care, and his contagious laughter will forever echo through the halls of Hartley.
A parishioner of Saint Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gahanna and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dominic's Catholic faith was the foundation of his life. Strengthened by prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, and the sacraments, he sought to use his gifts in service to God and others. Through his kind and genuine witness, he drew countless people, especially his students, closer to Christ.
Dominic will be remembered for his generous heart and the steady presence he offered to those who knew and loved him. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy lives on in his children, his students, and all whose lives were touched by his faith and friendship.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23)
