Ellen was born May 7, 1969, at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo, Ohio to Kenna Marie (Stewart) Ehret and Richard A. Ehret Sr.
Ellen graduated from John Wallace Whitmer High School in 1987. She enjoyed time in the band playing bassoon and participating in the flag corps. Her musical skills allowed her to participate in the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestra, and she was also a member of the Latin Club at Whitmer and the National Honor Society. She attended The Ohio State University for several years, working at the McDonald’s on High Street before moving into her career for Big Bear and later Giant Eagle, where she has worked for over 15 years.
Ellen has been a lifelong Catholic attending several different parishes; she was confirmed by Bishop Hoffman while she was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Rossford, Ohio. She most recently attended mass at the Newman Center at OSU.
Ellen is preceded in death by her father, Richard A. Ehret Sr., her grandparents Kenneth V. Stewart, Barbara Radocy Stewart, John J. Ehret, Dorothy Fisher Ehret, her aunts Mary Ehret Greisiger and Julie Ehret Robb.
Left to mourn Ellen’s passing are her mother Kenna Stewart Ehret; brother Richard A. Ehret Jr. (Mikako); sister Rachel Ehret Orkis (Michael); Uncle John Ehret and his wife Dorral, and Aunts Marjory Ehret Wachowiak and Beth Ehret Veres. Ellen dearly loved her nieces, Jessica Ehret; Megan Ehret and nephews Nicholas Ehret, Josh Orkis, Steve Orkis (Kelsey), Eli Orkis, Jyun Ehret and Yugi Ehret.
Ellen loved holidays and was very generous of spirit showering friends, co-workers and family with gifts for birthdays, Christmas and any other holiday you can think of. She always wanted people to feel special, whether near or far.
Ellen was a beloved friend, co-worker, neighbor, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cat-mom at times, sister and daughter. She will be sorely missed, and we will hold her forever in our hearts. She lived life on her own terms, enjoying a simpler life that she had cultivated with intention. She had a green thumb and loved trees, plants, flowers and nature so remember fondly her when you work the soil with your own hands or plant your bulbs for spring. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Cat Welfare Association, Columbus, Ohio or the Franklin County Humane society.
