

Elly Castrodale, 96, long-time resident of Columbus, Ohio, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and ardent “The” Ohio State University Buckeye sports fan, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, surrounded by loving family members at the Ohio Living Sarah Moore assisted living facility in Delaware, Ohio, her home for the past 9 years.
Elly was born in New York City on November 30, 1928 to Peter and Mary Gerbi. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert (Al), with whom she shared 62 wonderful years, sister Marie Coffey, brother-in-law Joe Coffey, brother-in-law, Bill Sabella, son-in-law Kevin Talty, and grandson, Joey Castrodale.
Elly is survived by her children, daughter Valerie Talty, Jami Christopher (Steve), Fawn White (Stu) and Michael Castrodale (Kim), and grandchildren Shealan Crabtree (Jesse), Brendan Talty, Steven Christopher (Emily), Sean Christopher (Ashley), Lucas Christopher (Kara), Kelley Lamanno (Tim), Nathan White (Kat), Samantha White and Tony Castrodale. Elly and Al also have 11 great grandchildren: Matthew Talty, Chloe, Kaleb and Deklan Crabtree, Gianna, Nolan, Bennett, Ellie, Maxwell and Penelope Christopher, Ashlyn Wheeler, Millie Lamanno and Charlie White.
Elly is also survived by her sister Delphina Sabella, and brother Donald (Rae) Gerbi, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Accomplishments were many, but most important to Elly was her love of the Lord and her deep love for, and devotion to, her family.
Visitation for Elly will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 E Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E William St, Delaware, OH 43015, with Fr. Pat Toner as the Celebrant. Services will conclude with interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N High St, Lewis Center, OH 43035.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting a donation to Ohio Living Sarah Moore, where Elly was loved and cared for by their dedicated staff.
