

James Thomas Muncy Sr, born April 20, 1943, passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He went to be with the Lord after a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Merlyn E. Muncy; his son, James Muncy Jr.; his daughter, Marcia (Roland) Robbins; and his cherished grandchildren, Morgan (Sean) McGrew, and Laura (Bryce) Stone. He also leaves behind his treasured great-granddaughter, Nora McGrew, and a great-grandson expected in June 2026. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Rosie (Thomas) Hartman, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A faithful member of Gahanna Freewill Baptist Church, James lived a life rooted in his faith and community. He retired from CSX Railroad, where he worked as an engineer.
James will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply cherished his family. He found joy in fishing and hunting and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. His greatest happiness came from being “Papa” and “Poppy” to his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
