Born in Columbus, Ohio, to Floyd and Freida Stahl, Jim met his high school sweetheart, Shirley DePew, at Columbus North High School. Soon they married and together they enjoyed 69 years of life and love.
Throughout his life, Jim played various roles: Teacher, Coach, Painter, Paramedic, Firefighter, Air Force ROTC, Church Deacon, Freemason, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He was passionate, dedicated, disciplined, and cared more about others than himself. He loved conversation, especially talking with former students about their accomplishments and lives, always asking if they were doing okay or in need of anything and willing to help if possible. He loved his family. He was an excellent husband, the best dad, and a beloved grandfather.
His generous spirit and laughter will be remembered by his family and friends for years to come. He is survived by his two sons, Scott and Richard, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
His greatest love was for Jesus Christ and God. Everything he did was based on Christ's teachings, and he wanted to provide that example to others so that our Father in heaven above would be well pleased and find him doing His work.
