Marilyn Amicon, 89, of New Albany, Ohio, passed away on March 19, 2025. She was born on August 16, 1935, in Grandview Heights, to the late Malcolm and Dorcas (Wehr) Miller and was a proud graduate of Grandview Heights High School. Marilyn lived a life marked by warmth, creativity, and an enduring spirit of care.
Marilyn’s love for knitting began at the tender age of ten, a passion that enriched her life and the lives of many. Over the years, she transformed simple yarn into beautiful baby blankets, socks, and afghans, a true reflection of her generous heart and the comfort she sought to provide to those around her. Marilyn’s gentle smile, creative hands, and caring nature touched countless lives. Her memory lives on in every stitch of a handmade blanket and in the stories shared by those who loved her.
Preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mardelle Grimm. She is survived by her devoted daughter and caregiver, Phyllis Amicon; her sons, Gregg (Nancy) Amicon, Andy Amicon, and Ken (Nicole) Amicon; eight grandchildren; and one great grandson. Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the beauty she brought into the world.
In the words of poet Henry Jackson VanDyke:
And just at the moment when someone says “There, she is gone!”
there are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout,
“Here she comes!”
Marilyn’s family would like to thank her nurse, Cheryl Gaughan and the rest of the Mount Carmel Hospice/Palliative Care team who supported us during her journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charitable organization of the donor’s choice in her memory.
