Mary Ann Homewood, 87, of Derry, NH, lost her battle with Alzheimer's Disease on March 22, 2025. Mary Ann was born on a relative's farm in Pickaway County, Deer Creek Township (Circleville), OH on July 31, 1937. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where she attended St. John The Evangelist Elementary School, and graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1955. She later graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing with an RN degree, and worked in surgery in Columbus. She met Robert (Bob) Homewood Jr. in 1961 while he was in the Air Force and studying at Ohio State University. They eventually married on May 25th, 1963, and lived in Columbus on the North Side, and in September of 1964, they gave birth to their only child, Jeffrey S. Homewood. Due to Bob's employment opportunities after college, the family moved around from Kansas City, to Northern Ohio through the late '60's into '70's, residing in Warren, Berea, and Medina, then moving to Naperville, IL for a short stint before landing in Knoxville, TN in 1977. There, Mary Ann continued as an RN working in area hospitals, mainly in recovery rooms. After her son Jeff moved off to college, Mary Ann & Bob moved again to Little Rock, AR in 1990 for Bob's job. Mary Ann continued in nursing and case management positions until Bob's unexpected passing on April 22, 2001. She then relocated in 2002 to live with her son Jeff, his wife Leigh Anne, and her new grandson, Alex, in Derry, NH. She adored being a part of her grandson's life watching him grow up, and cherished her time living in NH, spending Summers at Lake Winni and the ocean coast with family. As a young girl, Mary Ann had many friends whom she enjoyed roller skating with at The Rink, riding her bike and she also loved music and dancing. She loved vacationing on Lake Erie and on the ocean, as well as amusement parks like Cedar Point and Buckeye Lake. She also had a passion for horses, dogs and many animals. Mary Ann loved convertible cars and driving fast, and she always had Bon Jovi & Journey blasting in the CD player in the later years! Mary Ann was outgoing, full of energy, very friendly and understanding with friends/family, and was the first to speak to total strangers on elevators and in public. She is survived by her son Jeff, his wife Leigh Anne, her grandson Alex, her sister Barbara Flanagan & her husband Terry, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Leo and Ethel Scholl, Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband Bob, her younger brother Tom Scholl and youngest sister Kathy Harmon.
