Mathew Thomas Zaroslinski-Lewis passed away on August 4th, 2023. Matt lived life to the fullest and wanted those around him to enjoy it as much as he did. He was generous with his time and his love and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Everyone who met him became an admirer of his strength, his leadership, his empathy and his humor. He loved his family, friends and work and was known to be a force to be reckoned with if any of those were not being treated to his expectations. Those who knew Matt were sure to have been influenced by his keen fashion sense, as he made sure that if he found a new designer he liked, everyone knew about it. If you were lucky enough to have had Matt in your life, you knew that a kitchen dance party was only one song away. Unless you were in the car, then it was his singing you noticed and would never forget, as he sang like no one was listening.
He accomplished many things and enjoyed his work as much as his life. Both were done to the fullest. He was a leader, a mentor and was proud to be part of many companies. Matt graduated from Vermillion High School in 1995. From there he worked at McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, JCPenney and JPMorgan Chase. He was admired as much as he was respected and dedicated to making sure his employees were treated fairly and like family, often using his own time and funds to ensure that.
Mathew joins his father, uncles, grandmother and cousin on the other side. He’s survived by his husband Jimmy, mother Christine, bonus dad Jim, brothers Jason (Angelica) and Greg (Jamie), sister Mindy (Will) and bonus siblings Bob and Kristen. He is also survived by his grandfathers Ed and Gordon, grandmothers Vivian and Carolyn, aunts Bo, Robin, Jennifer and Mitzy, uncles Allen and Jerry, nieces Jasmine and Sydney and nephew Blake.
Services will be held on Friday August 11th between the hours of 3 – 7 at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Gahanna, Ohio at. Tacos will be served after, as they were Matt’s favorite. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Foundation or Kobacker House.
The family would like to send their deepest thanks to the nurses, doctors, specialists, staff and volunteers of the Kobacker House. You truly made a difference.
