

Nancy Margaret Brannon, 72, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025. She was born on February 16, 1953, in Columbus to the late Neal W. Greenfield Sr. and Barbara Corson Greenfield.
Nancy was a proud graduate of Brookhaven High School and Columbus Public Schools. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University, followed by a master’s degree in education from The Ohio State University. With a heart for ministry, she later pursued studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Nancy dedicated her career to serving others through both education and ministry. She began as a teacher with Columbus Public Schools before joining Fifth Avenue Church in Huntington, West Virginia, where she faithfully served as a pastor on staff for 18 years. She then worked for the Ohio Department of Education. After retirement, she continued to pour her time and energy into others, volunteering in the children’s department at Shepherd Church of the Nazarene.
Beyond her professional and ministry work, Nancy found joy in creativity and service. She loved pottery and crochet, often sharing her creations with friends and family. She also devoted countless hours to volunteering, always seeking ways to help others. Everyone who came in contact with Nancy was made to feel like family. She was a mother to all, offering unconditional love, support, and encouragement to those around her.
Nancy will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to faith, education, and service, as well as for the love, warmth, and kindness that defined her life.
Nancy is survived by her stepchildren, Diana McCullough, Greg Brannon, and Judy Brannon; her sister, Barbara Greenfield-Hartung; and her brother, Neal W. Greenfield Jr. and his wife, Nikki. She was a beloved aunt to Cory A. Greenfield, Brian E. Greenfield, Amanda B. Greenhart, and Nancy Lynn Hartung Amanda B. Greenhart, and a cherished great-aunt to Katelyn M. Smyers and J. Smyers. She will also be lovingly remembered by many additional nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, niblings, cousins, and countless “found family” who were blessed by her love.
Nancy is preceded in death by her loving husband, James O. Brannon and parents Neal W. Greenfield Sr. and Barbara Corson Greenfield.
Friends and family will gather from 3:30pm- 5:30pm on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 425 S. Hamilton Road Gahanna, Ohio 43230, immediately followed by a service beginning at 5:30pm.
