Patsy went to her eternal home with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on 1/25/23 at The Laurels of Mt Vernon. She was born to Hollis 'Peck' Saunders and Edith (Mulford) in Chester Ohio on 12/11/1934. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frank L. Hoy and grandson Paige A. Daniels. She is survived by her brother Stanley Saunders of Pickerington, daughters Terri Fisher and Cheryl (John) Cullum. Grandchildren Garrick (Charlotte Jean), Rebecca, Charlotte and great granddaughter Elizabeth. Pat also enjoyed celebrating Christmas with Stanley, his wife Barbra along with nephew Cameron, nieces Amber and Melanie.
Pat grew up in Pityme Ohio along the Ohio River in Meigs County Ohio. Her extended family lived nearby and she spent a great deal of time visiting them, especially her adopted Uncle Crook. She spoke with great fondness of the evenings she would spend with her Mother on their porch swing watching the traffic on OH Rt 7. She graduated in 1952 from Middleport High School where she studied Latin, enjoyed History and English.
Pat began her 32 year career at the Timken Company in Columbus Ohio in 1953. She became the first female supervisor in a plant that at its peak employed over 3,000 retiring in 1985. During that time Pat married Frank Hoy also employed at The Timken Company. They were married 52 years before his passing in May 2021.
Pat spent her time upon retirement baking, creating beautiful counted cross-stitch mostly focused on Jesus and verses from the Bible, spending time with her family and her beloved Yorkshire terriers Andy and Alex. Her and Frank were actively involved with the square dances held at Flowers Hall where Frank was the band leader and Pat helped serve snacks especially popcorn! A huge part of her life was dedicated to the Lord. She was a founding member of Maize Rd Baptist Church, The Redeemer's Church and World Harvest. Pat and her best friend Ruth Hiatt volunteered at the 2nd Harvest Food Bank and other ministries at World Harvest. She visited Israel 2 times with Ruth during the 1980's and was baptized in the Jordan River. She loved to talk about visiting places in Israel that Jesus Christ himself had walked with his disciples sharing the love of the Lord and the promises of Heaven.
Pat and Frank traveled throughout the US upon his retirement. They traveled extensively throughout the western states. She especially enjoyed the NW part of our country and was in awe of the majesty and beauty of our National Parks. Pat was the 'rock' for her daughters. She gave excellent advice and loved them with the fierceness of a lioness protecting her cubs. Terri and Cheryl feel blessed that they had such a wonderful relationship with their Mother as adults. The talks at Mom's kitchen table over coffee became truly treasured as they raised their own children, had careers and shared stories, especially pet stories!
Family and friends may are welcome at Schoedinger NE in Gahanna on Tuesday, January 31st beginning at 11a. Eulogy will be provided by William Canfield, part of the ministry staff World Harvest and burial alongside her husband will immediately follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge Ohio.
