In Loving Memory Richard Lee Justice, 74, passed away on July 31, 2025. He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on July 16, 1951. Richard is preceded in death by his father, Leon Justice and parents, Lundy and Dorothy Coleman; and several loving aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews and cousins.
Growing up, Richard was constantly on a quest for adventure. His love of train sets, building model airplanes/ships/cars, football, golf, chess, boating and listening to his Uncle Harold’s stories about life in the Navy and service to his country laid the foundation of experiences that would fulfill Richard’s dreams on his journey through life.
Richard graduated from Linden McKinley High School on June 7, 1970, and joined the Navy the same year. AME2 Richard L. Justice’s twenty years of service took him to amazing places and gave him the opportunity to do things he only dreamed of doing. He was a proud member of the Armed Forces of the United States of America. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1990. For a few years, he pursued a childhood dream of driving cross country for a trucking company. Richard finally settled down to enjoy his home, family and friends. He was a devoted member of the Columbus Primitive Baptist Church since 1977 and served as a Deacon. Richard’s joy came from the happiness he gave and shared with others. He would step up to fill a need or offer support without question for those he loved. We will always remember the fantastic fireworks displays he created for our family reunions and celebrations.
Richard will be greatly missed by his siblings, Marylynn Saunders, Sandra Harris, and David (Monica) Coleman; his nieces/nephews, Angela (Brian), Kaitlin, Jonathan, Ava, Anna, Amber, Andrea, Jason, Bryce, Gavin, Samantha (Eric), Hunter, and Alexandra.
The family would like to thank the team of caregivers at Pataskala Oaks Care Center and Capital City Hospice for the care given to our loved one.
Family and friends are invited to the “Celebration of Life” in remembrance of Richard on Saturday, August 30, 2025, 4:00 pm at 14250 Havens Corners Road, Pataskala, OH (614)-563-5342.
Family and Friends say farewell and wish Richard,
“Fair winds and following seas”
