

Bob Smith, born on January 17, 1933, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away September 11, 2025. Bob was preceded in death by parents Rev. V.E. Smith and Dorothy S. Smith of Mt. Dora, Florida; sister Shirley Tootell of Eustis, Florida; and sister Ruth Miller of Bucyrus, Ohio.
Bob is survived by wife, June R. Smith; daughter, Lisa E. Smith of Gahanna; granddaughter, Madeline L. Smith; grandson, Max G. Smith; granddaughter, Macy I. Smith-Bowen; and twin great-grandchildren.
Bob is also survived by stepson, Robert Shepherd; stepdaughter, Tami Krivit; and stepdaughter, Janis Farley; as well as grandchildren, Erin Krivit Wilson, Ryan Krivit, Sydney Shepherd, Cole Shepherd, Josie
Farley; and several great-grandchildren.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force (1952-56). He received a BA from Capital University (1960), MA from Ohio University (1961) and completed graduate studies at Ohio State University. Bob was an employee of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and member of the Ohio Parole Board for eight years, retiring in 1997 with 38 years public service.
Bob was an American Red Cross multi-gallon, rare blood donor for over 50 years. His retirement interests included spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, church, travel, investment, gardening and photography. Highpoints of retirement included travel with June to many countries in Europe, North America, Central and South America.
Bob was an active member of Stonybrook United Methodist Church in Gahanna, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday school with other members. He was a member of Public Employee Retirees, Inc. and
the City of Gahanna Record Commission for nine years.
Bob, most fondly known as Grandpa, will be loved and remembered by all in his family.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Stonybrook Church, 485 Cherry Bottom Road, Columbus, OH 43230, with interment to follow at Mifflin Cemetery.

Humanity, two of the many organizations Bob supported.
