Roderick "Rod" Louis Matheson

Roderick Matheson, age 86, of Columbus, went to be with Jesus on March 3, 2023. Rod was born on March 9, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio and lived most of his life in Columbus. He retired from Anheuser Busch in 1998 after 30 years of working in the Brew House. Rod loved Jesus, his family, NASCAR, football, chess, hanging out at the pipe shop, and spending time with people. At home, Rod loved listening to Big Band music, light Classical music, and the standards out of the 40’s and 50’s.

He is preceded in death by wife Alice Beury; brothers Louis and Jerry Matheson; daughter Kim Hagerman; and stepson Scott Richard.

He is survived by his brother Ed Matheson; daughters Lori (Bob) Smith, Alita (Rance) Rossetter; stepdaughter Angie Goodwin; son Rod (Monali) Simmons; as well as 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 East Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230 on Wednesday, March 15, from 11 am to 12:30pm with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 12:30pm. Services will conclude with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
