Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Stelzer, age 95 passed peacefully on September 22, 2022. Ruthie was a 1944 graduate of Lincoln High School and a long-time resident of Jefferson Township. As a life-long member of Peace Lutheran Church, she served in various positions as Sunday School Secretary, Senior Choir member, and Sunshine Chairman of Esther Circle where she remembered members on their birthday or an illness with a card, personal note, poem, or kind thought and prayer. She was also a member of Oakhaven Garden Club. Ruthie was a Receptionist/Secretary in the Gahanna-Jefferson School District for 20 years. Following retirement, she volunteered to read for the Vision Center of Central Ohio. She was blessed with a happy nature, a caring and sensitive presence, and loved to laugh. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home with her wonderful cooking and creative presentation. She had a gift of beautiful handwriting, which was evident as she sent so many letters and cards. She also loved reading non-fiction and devotional books, one of her favorites being “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young. Each of her days began with reading a page from it.
Ruth is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 72 years, William “Bill” Stelzer; her loving parents Lawrence and Hazel (Strait) Fisher; sisters-in-law Polly Fisher, Ethel Fisher, Mildred Stelzer and Mary Stelzer; brothers-in-law Donald Stelzer and Jerry Stelzer; and nephew James Stelzer. “I have enjoyed a wonderful life… a host of good friends along the way… good neighbors and good family relationships… and above all, a caring husband to share it all with me for so many years. I have been truly blessed.”
