

Betty had a career in cosmetology for over 20 years. She loved doing hair and making all her clients look amazing. She left cosmetology to become a manager for JCPenney’s, where she worked until she retired. For years she was a member of the First Assembly of God, Bessemer. Once she moved to Gardendale, she attended Gardendale Baptist Church. Betty had a passion for arts and crafts, fishing, dancing, playing dominoes, travel, and shopping.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Drew Stanford Sr.; her mother, Effie Franks St. Clair, and brother, Dewey Stanford Jr.; Stepchildren, Harley Isabelle, Eric Phillips, and Rebecca Alright.
Betty is survived by her husband, Donald C. Phillips; her children, Donnie Watts, Michael Watts (Teresa), Darlene Watts Looney (Mike – dec) and Beverly Snow (Eric). Stepchildren, David Phillips (Laura);
Grandchildren- Daniel Watts (Kesha), Ronnie Huff (David), Jessica Galvin (Mike), Corey Watts,
Stephen Looney (Allison), April Looney Epperson (Daniel), Jason Hudson, Jesse Hudson (Zoey);
Step Grandchildren- Dustin Phillips, Andrea Celah, Dereck Albright, Josh Albright, Alan Albright, Erica Phillips, and Carela Phillips; Great Grandchildren- Avia Watts, Gavin Watts, Mackenzie Huff, Logan Galvin, Payton Galvin, Kayla Earley, Emily Earley, Rachel Earley, Henri Galvin, Hannah Looney, Lexi Rice, Levi Epperson, Lincoln Epperson, Brianna Hudson, Lucy Hudson, and Zoe Wright; Step Great Grandchildren- Dilon Celah, Haley Celan, Jake Edmonds, Axton Phillips.
Services for Betty will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, with a time of visitation to begin at 1:00 PM; a funeral service at 2:00 PM; followed by her burial at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
