Carl was a man who truly found joy in working with his hands and caring for those around him. An avid woodworker and vintage car enthusiast, he could often be found building, fixing, or restoring something with pride and patience. Whether it was tending to his yard, cutting grass not only for himself but for neighbors as well, or planting in the garden alongside his brothers, Carl believed in staying busy and being helpful to others.
He had a love for sports, especially cheering on Alabama Crimson Tide with a proud “Roll Tide,” and he never missed a chance to support whatever teams his grandchildren were playing on. His greatest joy, however, was his family. Carl was known for his warm smile, his generous spirit, and the endless love he gave so freely.
Carl shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ora Faye Mayfield, building a life rooted in love, dedication, and family. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country with honor.
He was preceded in death by parents, Grady and Rilla Mayfield; beloved wife, Ora Faye Mayfield; sister, Jewel Owens; and brothers, Norman Mayfield, Julius Mayfield, and Grady Mayfield Jr.
He is survived by son, Keith Mayfield (Lori); grandson, Trent Mayfield (Abby); granddaughter, Karlee Mayfield; great-grandson, Grady Scott Mayfield; Brother, Steve Mayfield (June); and sister, Shirley Eubanks.
Carl will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life immediately following at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Mayfield's final resting place will be at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, Alabama 35071, US.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Mr. Mayfield’s honor.
