Cecile G Erwin

Cecile Gospodareck Erwin a resident of Gardendale, Alabama, formerly of Norwood, Alabama, passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 87. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final hours. Her family is very grateful that we do not grieve without hope and we find much comfort in the hope of the resurrection and the life to come.

In her pre-retirement days, and as a mother, Cecile spent her nights working a night shift at BellSouth Telephone Company and her days raising four busy boys and attending all of their sporting events. She was once an avid reader and a worker of puzzles. While mostly a homebody, she was most content hosting as many family and friends as could pack around her large kitchen table o fit in the swimming pool outside. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since 1984 and faithfully served on the altar guild for many of those years.

She is survived by her four sons, Mike (Susan), Randy (Susan), Gary (Mia), and Doug (Tarell) Erwin; her brother Johnny Gospodareck (Becky), 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy "Fluff" Erwin, mother Margaret "Dollbaby" Harris, father Robert Gospodareck, sister Shirley Thomas and brother, Robert "Buddy" Gospodareck.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt appreciation to each and every sitter that took care of our Mother and Grandmother over the last couple of years, as well as the staff at Southern Care Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with a service following at 3:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.
