Charlie Peter Raia

Charlie was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Fishing was his passion and he had many fishing friends and was once quoted in a newspaper article as being “Alabama’s Best Fisherman”. He was a devoted family man and he dearly loved his family; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Delores Raia; aunts Mary Raia and Catherine Lucille Hill; uncles Jacob Raia and Charlie Raia.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Gloria Allen Raia; daughters, Anita Jones (Paul) and Ginger Nash (Johnny); step-son, John Allen (Eve); step-daughter, Christina Barnett (Jake); four grandchildren, Samantha Williams (Chris), Joey Mollica, Katelyn Nash, and Jacob Barnett; one great grandson, Liam Williams; several other family members and a host of friends.

Celebration of life visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a Rosary at 5:00pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Saturday at 1:30pm; followed by his burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.
