Doris Jean Henson

Henson, Doris Jean Bookout of Fultondale was born December 2, 1948 and passed away on February 1, 2013 at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by her parents Vernell Ellis and Margie Evelyn Bookout. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James Lamar Henson; children, Gina Vines (Ronnie), Chris Henson (Ann), and Philip Henson (Sherry); brother Wyman Bookout; Sister, Gail Bookout Nelson; grandchildren, Jennifer, Rusty and Robert Vines, Katelyn, Trace, Hunter, Spencer, Savannah and Seth Henson and several nieces and nephews.

Doris graduated from the University of Alabama with Magna Cum Laude Honors and was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She was also awarded by the College of Arts and Science. She retired from Alabama Power Co. as the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President. She was a long time member of the Decatur Highway Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Chapel Service Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. officiated by Ministers Mike Whisenant and David Hester. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
