

Earline Jacobs Goodwin, age 90, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born to the late John Oliver Jacobs and Artie Maureen Mathis Jacobs. In 1953 she married the love of her life, John M. Goodwin and together they raised their children. She was a devoted member at Gardendale First Baptist Church, a graduate of Minor High School in 1952 where she received the DAR Good Citizenship Award, and won many awards including the state award for her incredible ability in sewing with her 4-H Club. Earline was a Mortgage Banker for many years before her retirement from Mortgage America after many dedicated years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii, reading, crocheting, time spent with her grandkids, and making memories with her family. Earline prepared her children for life as an adult teaching them valuable responsibilities and how important a relationship with Jesus is.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, John M. Goodwin; her parents John Oliver and Artie Maureen Jacobs; her daughter, Vickie Knox; and her brother Edward Jacobs. Earline is survived by her daughters, Cathy Moncrief (Richard) and Susan Hahn (Stanley); her son John D. Goodwin (Monica); her son-in-law Kenneth Knox; her grandchildren, Ryon Moncrief, Kevon Moncrief (Anna Leigh), Amy Jean (Jamie), Michael Knox (Haley), Kari Marsh (Stone), Joseph Goodwin, Stephen Goodwin; her great grandchildren, Sean Moncrief, Holden Knox, Murphy Ann Moncrief, Hawkins Moncrief, Hallie Knox, and Marshall Moncrief; her sisters, Johnnie Faye Wilkinson and Betty Lou Minyard; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 pm with a burial to immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
