Erskine R. James, Sr., age 90 of Warrior, AL went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2013. Known as “PawPaw”, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a gentle spirit and everyone that came to know him considered him a sweet and loving man. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Cathern James; a son, Buddy (Janice) James; a daughter, Linda Busby; a sister, Essie Mae Lowe; 2 sister-in-laws, Lavern James and Marie James; 5 grandchildren, Ray Seaver, Kay Blackman (Joe), Tommy James (Renae), Jonathan James (Teresa), Melinda Barnes (Shane); 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member and Deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Corner, AL. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5th, at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 5 until 8 PM with chapel services Thursday at 2 PM. Interment will be in New Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Warrior, AL. Rev. Sammie Reid and Brother Chris Burns will officiate services.
