Evon L. Cagle

Evon L. Cagle of Oneonta, AL was born July 28, 1922 and passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the age of 91. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Alford L. Cagle; parents, Wallace and Mandy Murphree; brothers, Denfred Murphree (Jeaneen) and Melbourn Murphree (Jean); and a sister, Edell Shores (Welch). She is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Teresa Torbert (George), Sheila Smith (Gary Myers), and Ethelyn Stacks (Mike); a brother, Windell Murphree (Margrete); sisters, Florine Moorehouse (Jay) and Marline Townsend (Jim); 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and 1 great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Evon was a long time member of the Antioch Methodist Church and retired from the Phoenix Resturants and Ollie’s Resturants.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 5th, at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 until 8 PM with chapel funeral services on Friday beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
