James R. “Catfish” Brown, age 81 of Gardendale, AL was born December 2, 1933 and passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015. He served his country proudly in the US Air Force. He retired after 27 years of service as an inflight refueling Boom Operator. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Christine “Chris” Brown.; 2 brothers, Jerry E. Brown, Jr. and John Wallace Brown. He is survived by his loving family, 3 sons, Roger K. Brown (Paula), Randy W. Brown, and Gary “Nick” Brown; grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Candace Hodges (Jeremy), and Amber Sargent (Brandon); great grandchildren, Kelston Hodges, Kinbrey Hodges, Koda Hodges, Caden Sargent and Dallas Sargent; his sister, Geneva Robinson.
A memorial service with US Air Force Honors is planned at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel for Friday, November 20, 2015 at 2 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
