

James Estes Carter of Gardendale, AL passed away on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016. He died at his home, as was his wish. He was surrounded by family and friends who loved him. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Martha Jane Robinson Carter and his daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Carter; three brothers, William T. Carter, Jerry Carter, and Jack Carter. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Carter Laubach (CF) and Carolyn Carter Huynh (Minh); Three grandsons, James Carter Wilson, (Catherine), David Jordan Wilson (Megan), and William Charles Patrick Cayley III; Two granddaughters, Katherine Marie Bellezza and Isabella Caroline Huynh; and great grandson, Joseph John Bellezza.
James served his country honorably in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. His family wishes to extend a special thank you to the members of the care team at Comfort Care Hospice, and St. Vincent’s Hospital of Birmingham, Dr. Robert Brock of Cardio Vascular Associates and Dr. Charles P. Lichty of St. Vincent’s Hospital, Gardendale’s Methodist Church, and the Riverchase United Methodist Church. And a special heartfelt thank you to Gardendale Fire and Rescue Services for all their help and compassion. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 11 am until 1 pm with services beginning at 1pm and concluded with US Navy Honors. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL.
