

COX, JAMES 'JIM' ELLIOTT Born July 14, 1948, passed from this life on Thursday, August 24, 2011 at home with his wife. Mr. Cox served as a dog handler for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict (1969-1970). A graduate of Auburn University, he went on to work retire from U.S. Steel after 38 years. Jim was a member of the Shades Valley Masonic Lodge #829, Theo Osborn #384 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Zamora Shrine Temple. He was the Southeastern Director of P.O.C.I., the Dixie Vintage Vice President, and former President of the Alabama P.O.C.I. Jim attended Bluff Park United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, J.T. Cox; and his brother, Kim Cox; Jim is survived by his loving wife and friend of 19 years, Peggy Mullinax Cox; his mother, Louise Cox; his brother, Tim Cox (Mary); 2 sisters: Emily Smith (Richard) and Marlene Jackson (Barron); his niece, Elizabeth Jackson; 5 nephews: Daniel Smith, Dean Smith, Grant Patterson, Stephen Jackson, Russ Smith (Monica), Josh (Stacy) Cox and Judd Cox; and many friends and neighbors who loved him dearly. Visitation will be held at Bluff Park United Methodist Church on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Bluff Park United Methodist Church at 11:00 am, followed by visitation at Pleasant Grove Congregational Church in Lafayette, AL from 3:00 to 5:00 pm with graveside services at Pleasant Grove Congregational Church Cemetery beginning at 5:00 pm. >>
