

James David Robinson of Hillview passed into his heavenly father’s arms on Wednesday, November 04, 2020. Born January 01, 1935 in Fairfield, AL Mr. Robinson was a lifelong member of Hillview Baptist Church where he served as an active deacon. Mr. Robinson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired as a sergeant with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department after 32 years of service, then served as an investigator with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office until his retirement. Mr. Robinson had a love for people and a heart for his community. He served as an active member of the Gideons, Forestdale Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Police, North Jefferson County Lodge 59 where he served in many offices including Alabama State National Trustee.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents Francis Murray Robinson and Emma Irene (Devine) Robinson, sisters-in-law Mary Louise (King) McKinnis and Reba Ann (King) Sulava, and brother-in-law, James Terry Thomason. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Marie (King) Robinson and daughters Frances Robinson, Melissa Robinson, Teri Henning (Ronnie) and Janet Gomez (David), brothers Richard Robinson (Dianne) and Thomas Robinson (Rebecca), sisters Noel Thomason and Jean Johns (Cecil P.) and brothers-in-law Michael McKinnis and John Sulava. He was blessed with twelve grandchildren: Willie Robinson, Timothy Robinson, Isaiah Robinson, Christopher Robinson, Sherry Williams (Bill), Gunja Wagoner, Kate Robinson, Carl Benefield (Ashley), Laura Dickinson (Justin), Rob Henning (Kimberly), Amy Leigh Gomez (Mike Moyer) and Dave Gomez. Also blessed with ten great grandchildren Anna Williams, Nathan Williams, Nelia Wagoner, Joseph Dickinson, Lorelei Dickinson, Natalie Dickinson, Braxton Benefield, Brylee Benefield, Devon Johnston and Landon Johnston, a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 9, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Hillview Baptist Church, 800 Heflin Ave E, Birmingham, AL 35214.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Big Oak Ranch or the Gideons.
The family wishes to express our appreciation to Pro Health Hospice and his nurses Saundra Moss and Jazmine McKenzie. Special thanks to nieces, Darlene Adkins and Pam Rollins who joined his daughters in caring for their Uncle Jimmy.
