Mr. James M Shepherd, a resident of Mt. Olive was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 18, 1925 and passed away peacefully on August 26, 2017 at the age of 92. He proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII.
James was preceded in death by his parents Grant and Iva Shepherd, brothers AG Shepherd, Cecil Baker Shepherd, Robert O. Shepherd, and David Lee Shepherd.
James is survived his wife of 17 years, Yvonne Graham Shepherd, who he lovingly called his Bride; children, Greg Shepherd (Martha), Florence Green (Wayne), Iva Hines, Susie Burch (Dale), Diane Lumpkin (Courtney), David Shepherd (Susan), Dawn Shepherd, Myra Cupp (Doug), Elton Lee Graham Jr. (Nancy), Charlotte Turner (Kenny), and Cynthia Hulgan (Don); siblings, John Ed Shepherd, Mildred Iva Shepherd and Ruth Dale Bozeman; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Monday, August 28, 2017 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm; funeral service at 2:00pm followed by his burial in Mount Olive, Cemetery.
