JoAnn attended Phillips High School in Birmingham, AL, and was retired from Brookwood Medical Center. She was a member of Gethesmane Baptist Church in Hayden. Although her health prevented her from attending church in quite some time, she placed all her faith in God’s hands.
JoAnn’s greatest joy in life was spending time with, and babysitting, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great niece.
JoAnn was a kind, loving and giving soul. To know her was to love her. She was the first to be there when anyone needed help of any kind, with absolutely no expectations of something in return. Even in her darkest days, she was more concerned about others than herself. She always wanted to know what she could do to make someone else’s life easier, better, or happier.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Nolin Trowbridge, Sr. and Lilly Trowbridge, sister – Glenda Brown, brother – Thomas Nolin Trowbridge, Jr., and the love of her life, husband – Terry Edwards.
JoAnn is survived by one sister (whom she lived with) – Mary Atkinson of Warrior, AL, one brother – Tim Trowbridge of Morris, AL, one son – Gary Garrison of Hayden, AL, two daughters – Peggy Tarran (husband Ben) of Pinson, AL and Deborah Thompson (fiancé Michael Morgan) of McCalla, AL. 4 Grandchildren - James Garrison, Lisa Tarran, Taylor Johnsey, and Wesley Thompson. Great grandchildren Emma and Mason Johnsey, Jaidyn Thompson, Zoey and Sophia Smith, soon to be grand-daughter Ansleigh Morgan, great niece Summer Trowbridge, and other nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Celebration of life Services for JoAnn will be held Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, Gardendale, AL. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. A burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery, 5730 Highway 78 E, Birmingham, AL 35210.
